How do people try to combine or merge their religion with modern society ?

As a society, we have you used our religion to try to fit in with modern society but we haven't been doing a good job at trying to merge the two topics. Modern times are filled of all new things such as homosexuality. For the most part religion is known to not accept homosexuality because it is looked at as usual in most people eyes. I am here to explore homosexuality through two religions and go off of others comments and explain the importance of homosexuality and reiglion as a whole.

A section in the quote states that the religion Taoism believes that sex is a distraction to most so it doesn't matter to them if you're homosexual or hetrosexual, sex as a whole is the real distraction. I love how they think beyond the fact that if you're a man and you like men or that you're a woman and you like woman. It’s thinking deeper to the concept that maybe who you are attracted to isn't the problem but that maybe the attraction or the urge for sexual desire from them is the problem. We often think that being with the same sex is a sin our un god or unholy like but we fail to open our minds and think on a deeper level that its not the fact that a man is attracted to another man or that a woman is attracted to another woman it’s the fact that sex and desire are the distractions they become so consumed in this that they lose their self along the way and their life starts becoming off track . Sex is a natural desire, I’m not saying that its bad because everyone will experience or come close to something that has to do with sex. It’s the fact that it has become to normal in our life and we focus so much on sex that it distracts us from what's really going on or even that a relationship isn't just about having sex but about listening and understanding and caring for your partener. Basically It doesn't matter who you love its the way you love and sex should not be the only thing you are worried about in your relationship.

The quote is saying that people really don't have their own opinions when it comes to homosexualtiy. If a sacred text says one thing or if their family says a certain thing about a topic then a person will follow that. A sacred text and traditions are a main component in a religion and they basically or the thinking strategy behind people’s motives when they are in a religion. Certain things in someone’s religion make up the way they think, they aren’t really coming up with their own ideas or opinions on a certain topic. It’s basically saying whatever my religion says, goes even if it doesn't make sense I am still going to go with whatever it is saying. This reminds me of the leader or the popular person in a group and how everyone follows after them no matter what they say or do and no matter how wrong they are they still go along with it just because they are popular or other people go along with what they are saying. I believe that religion doesn't give people the right to think on their own its like whatever I say goes and you don’t have a say. For the topic of Homosexuality, people are basing their opinions or views on this topic on the fact that their religion may go against it or because their parents don’t believe it then they should not believe in it either. It’s a recurring theme of how religion makes us not think for ourself and how because most religions have no opinions or a bad opinion when it comes to homosexualtity we ultimately have negative views when it comes to homosexuality.

Love can be looked at as many things but in the hindu religion it is looked at a great force. Love is powerful and can overcome many things. This quote is saying if you are really in love then nothing else matters. For the topic of homosexualtity, if you are really in love with that person and you know that he or she builds you up and helps you in life then it should not matter if you like the same sex because in the end love conquers all. Love is a very powerful force and should not be taking lightly. Loving someone or something is very powerful in itself it can really bring you up life just as the quote is saying hindus believe that love is important in attaining Moksha and Liberation which helps with the cycle of rebirths which in Hinduism they believe that you can be born again many times. Not is love any important role but devotion or being devoted to the love you are giving is a main point. You should not just be with someone it makes you look it should be because you truly love them they truly love you back because being love is a wonderful thing and can bring many wonders and great opportunities to your life time. Next time you think of love and homosexuality combined think of it as do they really love each other , or they happy because it’s does’t matter if you feel its wrong to be with the same sex , what's wrong is being with someone for the wrong reasons. Be with someone because you love them.

Exactly what makes love between the same sex so unnatural? This quote is trying to say that if you do take part in activities that deal with homosexuality then it’s lust and lust is wrong. According to the bible lust it wrong which makes homosexuality wrong. What we fail to realize is that just because a man and a woman is what we are used to seeing that doesnt make it natural its just something that we are used to. We have no right to state what is unnatural and natural because love is one of a kind and if you can find somebody who loves you with all your flaws then I say go for it because its a once in lifetime opportunity. Love is the same thing no matter who is sharing that love and for this quote to say that you can only experience true love if its between a woman and man is wrong and thats the unnatural part that people really believe that only love can be real between only a man and a woman. To really think about this you have to break it down , love can be felt by everybody no matter who they are attracted to.

Final thoughts :

In my opinion Homosexuality and religion have been at odds with each other for so long. I don't understand how people can so closed minded and so wrapped up their religion they will dismiss a beautiful thing such as love. I don't really grasp the concept of people who like the same sex as unnatural. Who are we as regular human beings to tell somebody that their love is unnatural or not right. Homosexual people and straight people are the same, we are so busy trying to divide the two that we don't understand that we are all the same and we are human and we love , maybe not the same way but we all love and its nothing wrong with loving someone that is the same sex as you. One of my points is that most people are going off of a book for the way they should think. I’m not dismissing the fact that the bible or quran or any holy book for any religion is something that they really look up to and its very important, i'm just saying that we allow that book to think for us when we should be able to come up with our own opinion and not go off of what a book is saying. Thinking on you own is very important , no one should make you feel a certain way about something because thats the way they feel. You should form your opinion in the topic because thats how you feel. Religion and homosexuality can be something that is a positive subject instead of a negative one. Is very simple to accept someone , you may not agree with what they are doing but were all human there is gonna be something you don't like about a person, it doesn't mean to beat the over the head with every chance you get. Get to know someone of the LGBT community and see how similar they are to a straight person. There really is no drastic differences. Once we see that everyone is equal then we can really rise as a people and see how we treat people is inhumane and horrid. In the end , we need to make our opinion about homosexuality and not let anything make up our minds for us and that we need to see we are all the same.
